ABOUT
I am currently a Bioengineering (Biotechnology) student at the University of California, San Diego. I work in the Leutgeb Neuroscience Lab at the University of California, San Deigo and conduct experiments concerning neurogenesis in the adult brain and how it affects your memory and pattern separation. Working in this lab showed me how important neurogenesis is to various aspects of our lives. I started this website to educate people on the fundamentals of neurogenesis. Neurogenesis is the process by which the brain produces new neurons. If you would like to know more about how this process works, check out the What is Neurogenesis? section.
Recently, neurogenesis has been in the news and you might be wondering. “Why is it even important?” It may seem like a complex topic but actually anyone can understand it. It is important because it contributes greatly to the brain’s learning and memory abilities along with mood regulation. It has also been seen that psychiatric problems are sometimes linked to reduced neurogenesis. For more details on this subject visit the Importance section. By learning more about neurogenesis we may be able to help people with such problems. For more information on developments and strides in this field, take a look at the Popular Research page.
